Xixi and I booked a last-minute trip to Tokyo for our 2 year anniversary and my birthday, which turned out to be amazing. We got the chance to fly First Class & Suites, met up with fantastic friends who brought us to all sorts of wonderful places, and of course got in a ton of shopping and - most importantly - eating!

@grunt72 - here is the menu, the restaurant name should be in the top-left. No idea how to read it so the best I can give you is this and that it is close to Tokyo Station. I'm sure if you ask someone in the area they'll be able to point you to it!

@grunt72 - the shabu shabu was on a small street about 5 minutes south-west of Tokyo Station. Super good quality and a great value - only 3,780 JPY / pax for all-you-can-eat and also includes drinks. Will try and look at old photos to get the name of the place or address for you.

I'm super hungry now thinking of this...

@grunt72 - I think the price was about $300 SGD per pax for an extended omakase set and lots of sake & beer. If you have a local friend to call and ask for a reservation that would be your best bet - I don't think it is easy or even possible for foreigners to go alone, and believe booking is super hard even for locals.

We decided to sit face-to-face in my seat to make the dining experience a bit more intimate. Truly a great way to enjoy an already fantastic meal 30,000 feet in the air.

Our favorite snacks from Japan - Shiroi Koibito. We searched high and low to finally buy these in Tokyo, until we arrived at the airport and realized we could get it easily there... will remember next time!
